Sony has for the last quarter of last year’s reported decline in profits of 5.9%, but these results have surpassed expectations of analysts.
The total company profits were 1.68 billion with a turnover of 26.96 billion dollars, which is 1.4% less traffic than the same period a year earlier. Analysts had expected a profit of around 1.55 billion dollars.
As the main reasons for the decline in profits at Sony cited difficult market conditions TVs, more competition, and the strong yen. In fact, despite the growth of total revenues in the television, the total profit from selling the TV because of price falls below 47%.
For the full fiscal year, which ends on 31 Sony March, the company expects a turnover of 87.97 billion dollars.
