Western Digital in the last quarter of fiscal 2011th deliveries per year was the first manufacturer of disk drives in the world. In three months a total of 54 million drives shipped (for comparison, Seagate has shipped 52 million drives). However, by revenue, which totaled $ 2.4 billion, Seagate is found behind Seagate (2.9 billion dollars).
Its revenues have remained the same over the same period last year, but profits fell last year from 265 million to $ 158 million. During the quarter the company recorded higher-than-expected demand, particularly from the OEM partner, told from Western Digital.
At the level of the entire fiscal year, Western Digital has recorded total revenues of 9.53 billion dollars which is slightly less than 9.85 billion a year earlier. Profits totaled $ 726 million, and the result is considerably weaker than the 1.38 billion dollars last fiscal year.
